Kohima, November 23 (MExN): The 21st Director General of the Assam Rifles (DGAR), Lieutenant General Pradeep Chandran Nair received the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) from the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind at an investiture ceremony held in New Delhi on November 22. 

The AVSM, recognising the “distinguished service of an exceptional order" was bestowed for Lt Gen Nair’s successful Command as the Inspector General of Assam Rifles (North) in Nagaland, informed a press release PRO HQ IGAR (N).

He was earlier conferred Yudh Seva Medal (YSM) for “distinguished service during wartime” for his command of a Brigade in Manipur and had been commended with the Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card on three occasions, it said. 

Before his appointment as DGAR, Lt Gen Nair had commanded his Battalion (18 SIKH) in Assam, was a Brigade Commander in Manipur and most recently, was the Inspector General of Assam Rifles in Nagaland.
