DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 29 (MExN): The Dimapur-Kohima New Line Project has completed 31.339 km of construction out of its total 78.42 km length, according to the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR). NFR General Manager (Construction) Ashish Bansal inspected the project on September 26 and 27 to review the progress of ongoing construction works.
The project includes 30 major bridges, of which 13 have been completed, and 150 minor bridges, of which 138 have been completed. Construction is also underway on 31 Road Under Bridges and five Road Over Bridges. The new railway line will have eight stations: Dhansiri, Dhansiripar, Molvom, Pherima, Pipihema, Menguzuma, Zubza and Kohima.
During the inspection, Bansal reviewed work on major bridges, tunnels and railway stations, besides assessing various components of the project. NFR stated that the inspection focused on construction standards, quality and safety requirements. Bansal also undertook a window trailing inspection of the Dimapur-Guwahati section and reviewed the Lumding-Furkating Double Line Project on September 28.
The inspections were part of NFR Construction's monitoring of major railway infrastructure projects and efforts towards their timely completion.
