Parcel Packaging Unit inaugurated
Dimapur, August 30 (MExN): The Parcel Packaging Unit (PPU) at Dimapur Mukhya Dak Ghar (MDG) was inaugurated by Som Kamei, Postmaster General, NE-II Region Dimapur in the presence of Staff and well wishers on August 30.
A press release received here stated that the Postmaster General, Som Kamei, in his address, stressed on the fact that since Dimapur MDG generates the highest revenue in Nagaland Division in terms of booking of Speed post letters and parcels, the setting up of this Parcel Packaging Unit is a positive step towards provision of better and improved service to the general public availing the services of the Department.
Razuzakie Phinyo, the Superintendent of Posts, Nagaland Division, said the vote of thanks, acknowledging the PMG, Som Kamei in making the event momentous and bringing to fruition the long awaited proposal of setting up a PPU in Nagaland division. The SPos also addressed the staff and motivated them to continue putting efforts in maintaining the Department of Post’s stature and bettering all the services the Department provides.
The programme began by invoking the Lord’s blessing by Bendang Lemtur, Associate Pastor, Police Baptist Church, Dimapur.
The Parcel Packaging Unit is an endeavour by the Department of Posts whereby it provides the provision of packaging of parcels within the norms of the Department so as to improve the safety and integrity of parcels during transit. The PPU is currently only supplied with 2 kilo and 5 kilo carton boxes which are priced at Rs70 and Rs 90 respectively.
Customers availing this service will be charged according to the cost of the carton and a minimal service charge of Rs 10.
