Dimapur: One wounded in  attack on transport agency

Morung Express News
Dimapur | August 27

Dimapur was rocked by the sounds of gunshots targeting a transport agency on the evening of August 26. One person, said to be an employee of the agency, was injured as a result.

Information about the incident from the Dimapur Commissionerate was scarce but other official sources stated that a case has been registered by the police based on a complaint received on August 27.

It was the Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), which issued a press statement, Saturday, expressing shock and condemning the incident. The incident happened at TS Goods Carrier, Kalibari Road, at around 7:00pm. The DCCI account stated that three unidentified persons, who came on a motorcycle, fired around five rounds at employees inside the office, the bullets wounding one on the neck.

The likely motive for the ghastly attack was not specified but the DCCI said that “it will be difficult for the transporters to bring in their goods to Nagaland” if such incidents continue with impunity. It urged the law enforcing agency to thoroughly investigate the matter, “book the culprits and award befitting punishment as a deterrent to future incident.”
