Dimapur police, Para-military to conduct joint patrols

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 12 (MExN): In order to instil greater public confidence and check illegal extortion, Dimapur Police together with the Para-military/CAPF forces will be conducting joint patrols, MVCPs and also provide joint escorts to transport convoys. Therefore it is appealed to the general public for necessary co-operation. This was informed in a press note by Addl. Dy. Commissioner of Police/PRO, Dimapur. 

This development comes a day after Nagaland Governor RN Ravi held a review meeting with Nagaland Chief Secretary, Home Commissioner, Commissioner & Secretary, NHIDCL, contractors among others on status and progress of road construction under CSS wherein it was revealed that one significant reason for slow progress and compromised quality was rampant extortions by anti-social elements purportedly belonging to underground armed organizations. 

Consequently, the Governor directed the DGP and IG Assam Rifles to take stringent actions against such elements and their patrons. He also directed the DGP to set up a SIT for registration and investigation of all cases against such elements. He also directed the DGP to constitute a Highway Construction Protection Force to provide security to road construction personnel.
