Dimapur, November 6 (MExN): Skill development programme for unemployed youth- Batch 31 was inaugurated at Don Bosco Tech AIDA centre on November 5 with Dr Moalemba, Editor, The Morung Express, Dimapur as the resource person.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Moalemba spoke on the importance of skilling and giving opportunity to the unemployed youths of Nagaland. He said that there are two things- “bad news and good news.” The bad news according to him is that Nagaland has too many unemployed youths and many struggles to get into government sector. The good news is that there is a huge scope for those who have skills, which will provide many job opportunities in the coming year. He therefore encouraged the trainees to upgrade their skills from time to time to meet the demands of the industry and to secure better avenues.
Dr Moalemba lamented that Nagaland has very high number of educated unemployed youth in comparison to many other states in the country. He added that more than 13000 students passing out every year from various institutions, it is difficult for government to provide job for all. “And as years pass by there would be more youth looking for jobs. The state government do not have capacity to provide jobs for all,” he stated while urging the participants to “look at other avenues like private job providers for employment instead of depending on government. In this context skill training has a very important role to play.” He invited the trainees to become entrepreneurs and become job providers for the younger generation after them.
Brother Sunny, Regional head Don Bosco Tech Dimapur Region shared about Don Bosco Tech and the skill development programme that started in 2010 for the less educated, unemployed youth in the region. He informed the gathering that Don Bosco Tech AIDA has trained and placed more than 2200 youth. He said, “Though our candidates are with low educational qualification we have been able to place them in reputed companies across the country.” Nearly 20 alumni of Don Bosco Tech AIDA centre are working abroad in various international hotels and cruise lines. He shared that “the main objective of the training is to make the young person self-dependent.”
Don Bosco Tech provides skill training to unemployed youth in a number of domains across India in collaboration with corporate, central government, state government and various Sector Skill Councils for assessment and certification. Skill development programme for unemployed youth, batch 31 began on October 9 with domains – Hospitality Food and beverage Service Steward and Assistant Beauty Therapist.
A press release issued by Towoka, Coordinator, Don Bosco Tech AIDA Centre stated that Imosong anchored the programme. Mhabeni presented a prayer song followed by welcome speech by Sanajaoba Singh. Trainees also presented Chakhesang folk dance and Sumi Folk Song. Bedunelu proposed the vote of thanks.
