Dimapur Town Nepali Baptist Church observes Youth Sunday

Dimapur, September 21 (MExN): Dimapur Town Nepali Baptist Church (DTNBC), Duncan, celebrated its AGBCN Youth Sunday on September 21 during the devotion service at 9:30 am under the theme “Passing the Torch” (2 Timothy 2:2-4).

The programme began with a praise and worship session led by the Youth Ministry, followed by an opening prayer by Thomas Sangma. Under the Association of the Gorkha Baptist Churches Nagaland (AGBCN), every Gorkha church across Nagaland observed Youth Sunday on the same day.

Youth Pastor Kamal Sharma of DTNBC Duncan delivered the sermon, highlighting the importance of faith, perseverance and mentorship. He urged parents and church leaders to “live an impactful life that influences youths, and to pass on the faith, responsibility, wisdom and service that they have received from Christ.” He further encouraged the youths “to hold the passed-on responsibilities faithfully, as stated in Luke 9:62.”

The Women Ministry presented a special number, followed by a performance by the Father’s group. Miss Maria Ngullie served as chairlady while Miss Sonia Rai led the offertory prayer. Dilu Gurung offered a special prayer for the youth and the AGBCN Youth Department, preceded by a Bible verse from Proverbs 22:6, “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.”

The benediction prayer was offered by Pastor David Thapa, “For I am already being poured out like a drink offering.” Scripture readings were shared by Rachel Magar in Nepali and Litika Singh in English from 2 Timothy 2:2-4. Ushers Nelly Thapa and Sudeep Gurung collected the offertory.

The programme reflected the spirit of AGBCN Youth Sunday, encouraging youths to be the light of the world, to spread and enlighten their surroundings, and to hold the passed-on responsibilities faithfully.
