Diocese of Kohima COVID-19 Task Force disbanded

Kohima, July 3 (MExN): The Diocese of Kohima COVID-19 Task Force (DKCTF) has been disbanded following the announcement of first phase of unlock in the State starting from July 1.

The decision was taken during the 8th Zoom meeting of the DKCTF on July 1.  Diocese of Kohima COVID-19 Task Force (DKCTF) held on July 1, as per a press release from Fr CP Anto.

However it was also decided that social services would continue as per the need of the people, especially the services of prayer and counselling, medical assistance and charity services, the release added.

The DKCTF informed that within a few months of operation, they were able to reach out to 2064 families with dry ration through DAN and about 200 families by other agencies  and offered spiritual assistance, counselling services as well as medical assistance to the people in need during the second wave of COVID-19 across Nagaland.

“The same services will be continuing to support the infected and affected people throughout the state and it was resolved that as long as the people requires the service, help and assistance will be available for the people in need,” the release informed.

The Task force was headed by Most Rev Dr James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima Dioceses and convened by Rev Fr CP Anto, Director of Peace Channel and Principal of NEISSR, with the support of the Catholic Association of Nagaland (CAN), Nagaland Catholic Youth Movement (NCYM) and Nagaland Catholic Women Association (NCWA) along with the Priests and religious in Nagaland.

It acknowledged and appreciated the government of Nagaland for recognition of their services as well as providing full support to the DKCTF throughout its social mission during the pandemic.

The task force also acknowledged the contribution made by the priests, religious, laity both by way of financial support and service, especially the NCYM members throughout the State in various parishes and centers, CAN, NCWA, NCYM and SBI Foundation for the full support and cooperation.

The bishop thanked all the various committee coordinators and its members and volunteers for their dedicated and tireless efforts rendered in goodwill and interest of the people in need. He  also expressed gratitude to all the well-wishers and donors for their generous contributions towards the task force and  which  helped to successfully widen its social and charity mission to the people in need throughout the State. 

The bishop concluded the session saying, “We wind up DKCTF but not our service, the service of the Church continues as long as people need them.”
