Dimapur, December 21 (MExN): Nagaland’s lone Rajya Sabha MP, Khekiho Zhimomi, today said that Diphupar village is a “dream village” where different Naga tribes live together in peaceful co-existence.
The MP who was the chief guest at the golden jubilee celebration of establishment of the village, held at the village ground said that the village also exemplifies the longing of Naga people as a whole to live under one administrative umbrella.
Zhimomi said that one unique feature of the village was that differences or conflicts among residents of the village were never taken on tribal lines but always resolved amicably.
On the theme of the jubilee celebration “Unite for progress”, the chief guest said that the theme is a legacy left behind by the founding members of the village who had the wisdom to establish a village where different Naga tribes can live harmoniously. In the regard, Zhimomi suggested that the village can be renamed as “Diphupar Naga United Village.”
The MP reminded that progress of a society is not measured by physical development alone but more by the level of unity, harmony and peaceful co-existence among its members.
Further, Zhimomi lauded the Diphupar village council and residents for judiciously utilizing the development programmes and schemes of the government which, he said has made Diphupar a model village.
On the occasion, the MP also unveiled the jubilee monolith, released the jubilee souvenir and donated Rs. 5 lakh to the Diphupar Village Council (DVC).
Former state chaplain, Rev. Yankey Patton, in his jubilee message reminded the gathering that jubilee is a time to thank and give praise to God for the blessings showered on the people.
Earlier, DVC chairman I Vitoshe Kinimi delivered the welcome address.
Former state Congress president, I Imkong, MLA, NEZCC director Som Kamei, DC Dimapur Hushili Sema, SP Dimapur Z Mero and representatives and elders from neighboring villages were among others who attended the jubilee celebration.
