Peren, November 21 (MExN): In a significant step towards improving healthcare facilities and patient welfare, the District Hospital Peren inaugurated its newly established Patients’ Kitchen on November 20 in the hospital premises.
Deputy Commissioner of Peren Hiazu Meru graced the inauguration ceremony as the special guest. In his address, Meru commended the efforts of the hospital management and staff for prioritising patients’ needs. He emphasised that healthcare institutions must focus not only on medical treatment but also on overall patients’ well-being, including access to hygienic and timely meals. He further assured that the district administration would continue supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening public health services in Peren district.
The programme began with a reverent dedication prayer led by Dr Rampaukopoing Michui, Executive Secretary of ZBCC, invoking blessings upon the newly established kitchen and its purpose of providing nutritious meals to patients admitted in the hospital. Following the prayer, Dr Niriehthono Zetsuvi, Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Peren delivered the welcome address, highlighting the importance of a functional patients’ kitchen in ensuring better care and comfort for those undergoing treatment. She expressed gratitude to the administration, medical staff and all contributors who worked tirelessly to bring the facility into existence.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr M Tentennok Jamir, SMO, who acknowledged the contributions of the special guest, church leaders, hospital officials, OPD staff, and all individuals involved in coordinating the programme. He expressed hope that the new kitchen would significantly improve the hospital’s service delivery and benefit patients from all walks of life.
The programme was held in the presence of officials, medical staff, church leaders and community members, while the formal programme was chaired by Dr Hedungkiebe, Senior Medical Officer (SMO).
