District level Social Audit hearing in Tuensang

Tuensang, March 19 (MExN): The Society for Training and Research on Rural development, Social Audit Unit (SAU), Nagaland conducted district level Social Audit Public Hearing under MGNREGA at the conference hall of DRDA, Tuensang on March 17, for Thonoknyu, Chessore and Noklak block.
Delivering her introductory speech, the state resource person Imlirenla Sanglier said that, “transparency and accountability” is the main feature under MGNREGA.
She emphasized on maintenance of three phases of photographs of all schemes/ projects undertaken and work code should be clearly shown in the work order and sanction order issued by the block office. Gram Sabha resolution was read out by the district resource person while village-wise rectification of various discrepancies was also done.
During the discussion hour, clarification on maintenance of seven register to be maintained by the VDB was made, where PD/DPC (MGNREGA) assured that training on maintenance of seven register will be conducted shortly.
SDO Civil Tuensang Shelly Kaitry, who is the Observer from the district administration, lamented that most of the VDBs lack proper maintenance of records and documents. He challenged to set the mindset straight by discharging duties in the truest sense. He went on to say that, conducting social audit is not a fault finding one but to improvise the functioning and implementation system. Chairman Tsalito Sangtam PD/DPC (MGNEGA) DRDA Tuensang highlighted the programme.
During the training programme, resolution was adopted for further course of action, while vote of thanks was proposed by Chairman Tsalito Sangtam PD/DPC (MGNREGA).
