DLSAs create awareness on various rights

District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) during one of the awareness programmes with the students.

 

Kohima, January 18 (MExN): District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) during the last few days conducted various legal awareness activities and services.  

 


On January 17, Wokha DLSA created "Awareness in the matter of Disclosure of identity of Sexual Assault" at three different localities of Wokha Town- main town area, NST and PWD areas. Para Legal Volunteers Daisy Tungoe, Renbemo Kithan, Mhajamo Khuvung, Zadeno Humtsoe, Albert Murry, Meribemo Patton, Roland Yimchunger  distributed pamphlets containing offences, Sections/Acts  & Penalties. 

 


The Wokha DLSA on January 14, led by Secretary, Wokha DLSA Khrievono Seletsu visited observation home at Zuvotong colony, Wokha as per NSLSA monthly action plan. The members had a discussion with the board members of observation home and Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) on the Rights and Duties of JJB.

 


Meanwhile, Dimapur DLSA conducted a Legal Awareness Programme in collaboration with the Ao Students' Union Diphupar during the students' body annual general meeting on January 11. In the awareness programme, panel lawyer Kekhriele-u Mezhu spoke on the topic Cyber Crime and POCSO Act. 

 


Ajongba Imchen, Chief Judicial Magistrate and Secretary Dimapur DLSA spoke on Lok Ayukta, Benami transaction and Below Poverty Line. He also stressed on the functioning of the Legal Services Authority and its benefits to the people. He also challenged the students to be sincere and to stand up against corruption.

 


On January 17, Phek DLSA led by Cheliam Khiamniungan Secy, PDLSA, Mamang Singsong Retainer Lawyer PDLSA, V Vero Panel Lawyer PDLSA, Sekhotso Rokha Panel Lawyer PDLSA visited Shelter Home Phek, on visit the team distributed sationeries and snacks to the children so also had an interaction with the coordinator of the Shelter Home on the functioning and  position of the Home. At present, there are  3 children at Shelter Home Phek.
