Do you think the State Government is doing a good job in tackling the COVID-19 so far? Give reasons.

Some of those who voted YES had this to say:

•    Yes of course. Sometimes I can't hold my three kids and my husband. But State Government is looking after lakhs and lakhs of people so...

•    Of course yes! In the beginning, there were few loopholes on the side of the Government, but if we look at the present situation, we the public (not all) should take the responsibility. We can’t go on blaming the Government without doing our part. Is everyone following the SOPs strictly? I don’t think so. Because of few careless individuals, this is what we are getting now.

•    Yeah doing good but can do better.

•    Yes government did their best but it's the public careless only corona is going to stay with us.

•    Yes. But the public never ever maintain social distance.

•    Lapses if any should rest on those public who violates government orders.

•    Given the circumstances, they're doing a fairly good job but they could do better.

Some of those who voted NO had this to say:

•    No because when the time was there they didn't do their work properly because of that community spread started.

•    Provision for a safe and convenient solution for basic necessities like food and access to health care facilities.

•    We are into August, yet the test capacity is just 300-400 per day. if the test also is backlog then the virus can’t be contained. need swift action, planning, management and implementation

•    Less contact tracing.

•    No, too little too late, as lockdowns are not properly enforced specially in villages and town areas and no security forces are deployed.

•    More can be done.

•    Why because it has increased.

•    The BSL-2 lab in CIHSR should be functioning in full capacity. Proper training and safety equipment should be provided to the front line workers especially the 4th grade employees like the drivers, cleaners etc.

•    So far not up to date.

•    There is no discipline or philosophical rationale in the approach.

•    Recovery rate was super fast at the beginning, but now, when the real show started, we can see...!! The government is not doing enough; it can do much better...

•    No. The frontline workers are working so hard but the Government is not doing enough to tackle the situation. But what can we do now, not enough healthcare facility to begin with.

•    If Government is doing good job there won’t be community spread...so it’s a big no for me

•    No...! (1) The magical spell of the Government at this time is more on the number of virus, but since, the immune of the Nagas is the medicine of Covid-19, no doubt let it rise. (2) The relief fund for daily wagers is finish before the real lockdown begins!

•    No. Firstly, the set up of BSL lab in Kohima was utterly foolishness when the first point of contact for any returnees in Nagaland is Dimapur. Second, the blunder of sending a returnee to Tuensang and Jalukie without waiting for the report. Third, no transparency in the utilization of fund of 1000 crore received from the central. Fourth, no PPE kit for the front line worker. Fifth, relaxation of lockdown when positive cases were increasing.

•    As long as testing rate is not increased, the virus will spread. Total Lockdown with high rate of testing is the need of the hour. That's how you defeat the virus.

•    Taking advantage of COVID in many states.

•    Not enough. The government can do much better but due to ill-educated minds, Nagaland is not improving.

•    Not much, which means no. In Nagaland Coronavirus is spreading from QCs to Outside QCs which means we are very much careless.

•    No. A big question is about testing. What about testing lab at Dimapur?

•    Too little too late.

•    Not well plan ahead even though enough time and enough experience known from other countries.

•    With lockdown continues indefinitely, the livelihood of low and middle level people at stack as their income is stopped. For small vendors and business firm, no jobs and workers to carry on the business. Private employee not getting their salaries and lost job. Only Banking, State Govt, Central Govt and Insurance companies and public sector employee get their full income with less than half of the work, from the public money through taxes and revenues. The State Govt relief of 1000 is inadequate and still after four months nothing changes the huge population of poverty line people and unsecured employees.

Some of those who voted OTHERS had this to say:

•    Up to some extent. But as we all can observe there is communication gap and proper co-ordination. Maybe every officer is claiming more superior than the other.

•    I won't say that government is not doing its duty in tackling the virus. Government is doing its job but in one way or the other the government is lagging behind in their job in tackling the virus. I don't need to give reasons this because everyone knows it better.

•    Government is playing its fair amount of role if not entirely. The General public on the other hand is not at all cooperating with the norms and directives from the front line workers

•    They were also looking and struggle for the public but action and moral will not get support our hunger. Where are the crore of money GOI send for COVID-19 in Nagaland as far more expense are majority donation by general public n society before ... So lockdown or strictly precautions will not help our hunger without money how can people survived.

•    There always is a problem with simplistic perception of issues. And this poll is exactly that. Lacking intact and maturity. And dismissive of the complexities involved in an issue so alien to every living human. Hugely disappointed with this pot stirring antic from one of my favourite publications of the day.

•    Can do better... A lot better

•    Forget about the government but leading by me us public have to be responsible and a good behaviour change is the need of the hour.

•    Every living being are the same ... Don't judge you own kind.

•    Responsibility lies with both. Cooperation is of utmost importance.

•    Can't say no, but there is more it can do. Decisions and actions taken should be based both on controlling the spread and protecting the citizens.

•    ‘Be the change you want to see in the world’ by Mahatma Gandhi apply this theory first.

•    Keeping aside the sources of revenue, we ought to ponder "how to keep our citizens safe"!

•    Totally, I don't want to blame the Government but suggest concentrating and giving more effort to handle this pandemic.

•    Looking at the public from Quarantine Centers to Community, the government needs to impose the strictest norms and regulations. It's almost late but never too late. Keeping in mind, more power comes with more responsibility. Lockdown is never the solution. The New Normal behaviors should be followed by all to tackle the situation at hand.

•    Are the public also doing their part?

•    For me, the Government is doing an ok job since covid-19 is a new and evolving problem; there is a lot of room for improvement.

•    Instead of imposing total lockdown why the government doesn’t increased the testing process by tying up with the panchayat?
