Don’t criticize eastern legislators caution ENSF

Dimapur, September 3 (MExN): The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation today issued a bizarre warning against any organization or individual criticizing any “eastern” legislator or “threatened to step down.” This warning was contained in a “press note” issued by the ENSF leaders today. The organization said to have taken note of “the current socio-political situation” of the Nagas. What this situation was, the note did not specify or explain. The ENSF cautioned organizations, NGOs, individual or groups “to refrain from publishing unwarranted and infectious (sic) news item” that can “hurt the sentiments of some section of Naga community.”

The ENSF declared that it would not be a mute spectator “if any vested” organization, NGO, individual or group “criticizes and alleges any of the eastern Nagaland legislators leaders without any valid or genuine reason.”

The organization said it would not compromise on issues where “any eastern Nagaland legislators, leaders are threatened to step down (from any position they hold or in case of false propaganda campaign are initiated against them.” Any “false allegations to under-estimate and demoralize” the “eastern” legislators or leaders will not be acceptable and the ENSF will take steps to “counterbalance the delicate setup of Naga society.” The ENSF could not be contacted for comment for these assertions contained in its note.
