‘Don’t question DMC functioning system’

Dimapur, September 1 (MExN): Close to the heels of the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) claiming that the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Nikhashe Sema, was ‘unaware’ of the ‘deed of agreement’ issued by the DMC Chief Advisor, Sema has clarified that it was issued ‘in his directive.’ In a press note issued by the CEO, he stated that the circular for execution of agreement with the allottees was based on his directive and not a notification as claimed.

The CEO, also reacting to media reports which appeared in the local dailies questioning the role of the Advisory Committee, stated the Committee during its first advisory board meeting decided to designate a Chief Advisor. Consequently, the other Advisors were also assigned different works for smooth and effective functioning of the DMC. Sema stated further that no individual/organisation should question the functioning system of the DMC.

The CEO added that the terms and conditions given in the earlier allotments should not be confused with the ‘deed of agreements.’ By signing the deed of agreement the rights of the tenants are not taken away, the CEO stated. He added that even if the DMC were to dismantle and re-construct a building, the existing tenants will be given priority as per the agreement.

Interestingly, when contacted, a member of the DMC Allottee Welfare Committee said it has no knowledge about the ‘CEO signing the deed of agreement.’ The Committee member claimed that the CEO till Wednesday morning maintained he ‘has not signed.’ It may be noted that the CEO signed the agreement Tuesday late evening. The member added that the allottees are now not bothered about the ‘signature’ as it still opposed to the contents of the agreement.
