Dimapur, September 13 (MExN): The All Nagaland Drawing Teachers’ Association (ANDTA) today stated that there are 25 percent schools functioning without drawing teacher. The ANDTA are seeking for post creating of drawing teacher in GPS, GMS and GHS under School Education department, Nagaland.
The Association in a press release appended by its general secretary V. Hetoi Swu stated that the drawing teacher serving under the directorate of School Education, like any other teaching staff has been rendering service to the student community as per the assignment given by the authority. While deliberating our roles and subject felt that the Association can play a pivotal role in moulding and shaping the future of the students, thereby bringing changes in the society, the Association further stated.
Meanwhile, ANDTA reportedly did “some field research in and around” Kohima and Dimapur district whereby the Association found that out of the many commercial artists in Nagaland especially the State capital, 80 percent are run by non-locals. Earning eight to ten thousand monthly is sufficient to maintain a family. “To pursue an artist as a profession, as aspirant does not need to have much book knowledge but require motivation and encouragement by conducting perennial competition in the schools, districts and state level, which the association is planning to take up with most priority,” the Association stated.
The Association also stated that despite government initiatives and efforts to solve the problems by creating job avenues in both government and private sectors, there are still issues which need to be addressed. Therefore, the Association has requested the concerned authority to look into the matter.
