Kohima, May 7 (MExN): The Naga Business Association Kohima (NBAK) has stated that easing government restrictions on business activities on a daily basis without discrimination would help generate state revenue while helping about 90% of the state’s population survive. A press release from the association meanwhile appealed to the government to roll back the COVID-19 cess on petrol and diesel. It further urged the Nagaland Government to consider the plight of the Naga business community who have lost huge inventories as a result of the lockdown. “Many of our local business community had been surviving without any source of income during the lockdown period,” it added. The association suggested that Government E-Permits would be a good option to prevent spread of disease and crowd gathering at government offices. It also asked the government to consider relaxation of loan criteria and direct all nationalised banks who are operating in Nagaland for availing business loans by the Naga entrepreneurs. It further urged the government to consult the Naga business community and its organizations to create a vibrant economic atmosphere in the state. While appreciating some house owners for exempting monthly rentals to business community, the association asked others to consider doing the same.
