Effort to popularize Onion cultivation among farmers of Nagaland

Dimapur, December 20 (MExN): AICRP (Vegetable Crops), Department of Horticulture, Nagaland Centre, SASRD, NU under Tribal Sub Plan-Onion conducted seed distribution programme for Onion beneficiaries at New Socüünoma village, Chümoukedima and Bade village on December 19.

Looking at the consumption and production rate of onion in Nagaland, Dr Major Singh, Director of ICAR-Directorate of Onion and Garlic Research, Rajgurunagar, Pune, Maharashtra and Prof Akali Sema, Principle Investigator, TSP-Onion felt the need to popularize onion cultivation among farmers of Nagaland. 

In this light, CO-PIs of TSP-Onion, Nagaland Centre Dr Aastik Jha, Dr Waluniba and Dr Moakala Changkiri distributed Rabi Onion seeds to the best performing beneficiaries to encourage and popularize Onion cultivation. 

This was stated in a press release issued by Prof. Akali Sema, Project investigator TSP Onion, Department of Horticulture SASRD: NU.
