Wokha, November 18 (MExN): The Entrepreneurs Associates (EA) Nagaland conducted a programme for women street vendors and micro-entrepreneurs in Wokha on November 17. The programme in collaboration with the Capri Global Private Limited is the second edition in Wokha Town and was attended by women from Wokha town and neighbouring villages.

Aimed at encouraging women to enhance their business skills, and develop long term goals for themselves, sessions on Customer care, financial planning and health care were conducted for the attendees, Communications Cell EA stated in a press release.

Introducing Entrepreneurs Associates and the work that the organization has been doing since its inception in 2000, Neikule Doulo, Advisor, EA shared about its journey from being a startling start-up that audaciously talked about entrepreneurship, a new paradigm in society when the fascination for white collared jobs was only growing.

Stating that EA spelled hope for the countless many who may be left out in the race for seeking government jobs and for those who wanted to chart a path in the world of business, she shared that EA has been relentlessly supporting and mentoring local youth, to take up entrepreneurship.

Voicing EA’s conviction that communities such as the Nagas need to focus on its economy and steer it, Neikule also encouraged the women to give their best in their work to build a better place for everyone. EA’s advisor spoke about the importance of street vendors who are channelling organic farm yields into our urban homes while ensuring that incomes trickle down to the last mile farmer in the villages.

Dr Mhonchan Kithan, Zonal Leprosy Officer educated the women about the Corona Virus and the need for health measures to be taken during the ongoing pandemic times. Stressing on the importance on vaccinations especially for people exposed to larger crowds in the markets, he dispelled myths associated with it. The medical officer also encouraged the women to practice better hygiene during the present times to put an end to the spread of this virus that has affected life globally.

The importance of enhancing customer service cannot be undermined in the world of trading and hence to touch upon this important matter, Vanthunglu Murry, Life Coach and Soft skills trainer provided invaluable advice to the attendees. To grow and improve their businesses she pointed out the need for them to pay better attention to the needs of customers and understand that the customers determine the course of the business. Vanthunglo also impressed upon the women, the need for being honest and truthful in their dealings with others to gain their trust and support.

EA’s Assistant Manager, Chunjanglu Gracy stressed on the importance of savings in the lives of every individual, more significantly for women in business and urged them to begin it if they were not engaged in it earlier. Sharing stories and instances of how many of EA previous trainees have also moves ahead with financial planning, she motivated the women to follow suit.
