This is a real menace, an anxiety and loathsome too. Some said ‘pain in the neck’. How to we remove the grit from the boot? Unless all ‘factions are united? A unified Nagas front that GOI and Naga people acknowledge? Imaginable, but not achievable. Of course, Nagas decided to run their own government long time ago. But which government? That is another huge anxiety.
Gun, pen and tongue are in vogue in the field of extortion. Of the three, gun is most abominable. State law department, church and people who hate extortion and corruption have shouted to the full volume of their lungs without affecting result. We have got to do something, no doubt.
The idea of a ‘dry state’ is not working. RTI will be Right to Interpretation in our Christian state. For most of us heaven is not a reality. We will continue to love the world, therefore. And that is never the idea of Jesus Christ either. “Blessed are the meek; for, they shall inherit the earth” without Nagaland state government which is full of corruption and extortion. That is also not quite a correct Bible text. Nagaland state, per se, makes little or no money. Money comes from Delhi through variable development programs: non-lapsable pool, centrally sponsored schemes etc, etc. Pen judiciously executes its work in file process. The smartness of tongue in the state assembly is unquestioned. Pen and tongue are bosom friends. They are also free from being under extortion lists. All hates are, therefore, pelted to the gun and the ones who use it in the name of Naga independence sovereignty and freedom etc, etc. There are a good number of evangelical thieves, too.
There are undergrounds, over grounds and middle grounds having factions. They disagree many things in many ways. Nabbing extortionists by police no longer surprises us anymore. That is not achievement either. Extortion will stay, and stay for a long time to come. Passing the bug to one another generates benefits for all the three ‘grounds.’
Let us sing and wait: ‘God bless my Nagaland; Land that I love. Stand beside her and guide her through the night with the gun from abroad!”
