DIMAPUR, JULY 30 (MExN): The Special Branch of Dimapur police busted a fake vehicle registration certificates racket. According to a press release from the Additional Superintendent of Police, Dimapur the breakthrough was made following a tip-off from sources on Saturday, July 30. Taking the lead, one house was raided at Naharbari today from where a stolen car (Hyundai Verna of metallic silver colour) was discovered without registration number. It bore the engine number: D4F845F8820 and chasis number: MALCMIUR8M051631. Further search of the house led to the recovery of twelve “blank vehicle registration certificates bearing the seal and signature of the District Transport Officers of Bishnupur and Thoubal districts, Manipur”. The owner of the house identified as one Inavi Achumi was taken into custody. “The accused has been arrested and a case registered for investigation,” it stated.
