False assertions dividing people: NSCN (IM)

DIMAPUR, JUNE 8 (MExN): Responding to the series of press statement issued by its rival, the NSCN (IM) has termed it as ‘adverse forces in the process of resorting to media hype and campaigns under the guise of nationalism” and pointing out that the NSCN (K) with its repeated assertion in the media was testimony to “their secretively treacherous politics”.

“The Khaplang group with the motive to divide the Naga family has engaged themselves into various forms of sinisterly hatched misdemeanors and misleading propagandas”, stated a press communiqué issued by the MIP, GPRN.

The NSCN (IM) stated that such “false assertions” are being used to “incite isms and divisions on tribal as well as regional lines, thus aimed at disintegrating the Naga family”. It also alleged that in the name of nationalism the NSCN (K) had been “dictating, extorting and bleeding the Naga public through various forms to aid their anti-Naga schemes and policies”.

“They claim to be fighting for the unification, sovereignty and freedom of the Naga people on one hand. But on the other hand, contrary to their claims they have been collaborating with Meitie outfits and the Manipur government agencies by trying to divide the Naga people and its land”, the NSCN (IM) statement pointed out. It added that these facts were clearly demonstrated through their press statements and combined armed operations of resistance with the UNLF and other allied forces against the Nagas living under the present Indian imposed Manipur state boundary and elsewhere.

The NSCN (IM) further pointed out that in stating their sponsorship of Okram Ibobi’s government with millions of extorted money “from the Nagas aspiration”, the truth about their “questionable acts” have been now made known.

“To logically sum up, the Khaplang group’s intent of arms procurement, as they are in friendly terms with the Indian government as well as all other anti-Naga organizations, their only purpose is to fight against the Naga people”, it stated.

Pointing out that the peace initiatives that the Nagas had long desired for should not be allowed to be hijacked by “egoistic individualism and their temporal material gains”, it was stated that the NSCN (K) by “distorting history and blemishing the Nagas image by insidiously working in collaboration with oppositional contenders, ventures to jeopardize the much sacrificed peace initiatives” undertaken by the NSCN (IM).

“It is high time that the Nagas arrest the facts, factors and the elements perpetuating obstructive and divisive stratagems, for the Nagas cannot be put to ransom or the peace efforts to find a lasting solution to the protracted Indo-Naga issue be crucified”, the NSCN (IM) stated and appealed to the people not to “bow down to destructive forces or approaches but overcome all differences and misunderstandings with positive efforts to ending the long drawn Indo-Naga political problem”.
