Dimapur, Nov 17 (MExN): The FGN has alleged that NSCN-IM cadres returning from Zunheboto under the command of ‘Capt.’ Avi Chishi assaulted some civilians on ‘November 7, the 8th, 11th and the 13’.
According to FGN ‘Under Secretary’ Suluneyi Vero the NSCN-IM cadres beat up a mentally deranged person identified as one Mecheo of Suthozu Nasa after which the cadres proceeded to assault two butchers at Chozuba. On November 13 a handyman Kedulhu, a cobbler Venuzo and a carpentry instructor Vesazo were beaten up at Chozuba. The cadres then allegedly raided the residence of one Soselhu Leacy, son of late ‘General’ Dusoyi at Yoruba. On failing to find Soselhu, the NSCN-IM cadres kidnapped his two sons and a son-in-law and took them to Ighanumi village. They were released only after the intervention of the village’s elders, the FGN release stated.
“This is not the only first nor the only time that Capt. Avi Chishi had been tormenting our people on several occasions; he had been applying these tactics on the Chakhesang people wherever he went. He never showed a sense of respect to leaders and elders too which is unimaginable in Naga way of life” stated the release while questioning if such “type of man” would benefit the people. Vero also, questioning if such “practices’ are in the veins and blood of the Nagas, asserted that Chishi is ignorant of the “alien culture being brainwashed by the Tangkhuls” and no benefit has been brought to the Sumi people “who are haplessly suffering because of a man like Capt. Avi Chishi who never enjoys the mandate of his own people but rules them with the doctrine of applying an iron hand”.
However, on the other hand, the NNC/FGN are “ever upholding the principle of non-violence and looking forward to achieve the Naga national goal through understanding, co-operation and unity of our people leaving behind harmful personal ideologies” Vero asserted.
