Fire in Chümu renders 7 families homeless

At least 7 families were rendered homeless by a fire in Chümoukedima on February 8. The fire started around 4:00 pm engulfing 3 houses at Water Supply colony under Ward 1, adjacent to NH 29 as the hill section begins.
According to the Chümoukedima Fire Station, it received information of the fire at around 4:18 pm and responded immediately with 3 fire trucks and 17 fire personnel. 3 bamboo structures housing 7 families were completely razed before the flames were prevented from spreading further.
There was no report of any casualty, while the damage caused was estimated to be around 30 lakhs. The cause of the fire was still to be ascertained.
