Fire station approved for Changtongya town

Mokokchung DPDB discusses Nikshay Mitra initiatives, Reform Utsav 2026, PFMS awareness

Mokokchung, September 19 (MExN): The Mokokchung District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) has approved the construction of a Fire Station at Changtongya town and forwarded the proposal to the concerned department.

The decision was taken at the monthly meeting of the DPDB held on September 18 under the chairmanship of Minister for Rural Development & SIRD, Metsübo Jamir, at the DC's conference hall.
Presiding over the proceedings, Deputy Commissioner and DPDB Vice-Chairman Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, welcomed the members, stated a DIPR report. 

After reviewing the minutes of the last meeting, the members deliberated on the Nikshay Mitra initiatives undertaken by the District Tuberculosis (TB) Office, under which community members and donors extend support to TB patients. The meeting discussed the need to seek more potential donors for the cause in view of the increasing number of TB patients.

The DC also highlighted the Reform Utsav 2026, aimed at ensuring better governance and delivery of services to the public. 

District Horticulture Officer Dr B Temjenmenla made a PowerPoint presentation on the implementation of schemes and activities carried out by the department in the district.

Addressing the meeting, the Minister spoke about the Public Finance Management System (PFMS) and urged officers to be well-equipped with knowledge of digital payments and well-informed about government reforms, schemes and protocols. He encouraged members to come up with innovative ideas and to recognise and acknowledge innovative practices and solutions emerging from the grassroots level.

The Minister also advised the officers to make proper utilisation of government offices and staff quarters.

During the meeting, the Minister launched a toll-free helpline for human and elephant conflict initiated by the Department of Environment, Forests and Climate Change.
