Food Safety Team Wokha seizes expired food items

Wokha, October 17 (MExN): Food Safety team, CMO Office Wokha conducted routine monitoring visit of food business establishments and shops around Wokha town on October 16. During the monitoring visit, licenses of shops were checked and shopkeepers were informed to apply or renew their license at CMO Office Wokha.


CMO Office Wokha in a press release stated that numerous expired food items consisting of spices, biscuits, noodles, juice, canned and bottle beverages, mustard oil, pulses, flour etc were seized and duly discarded after completion of FSSAI formalities.


The team led by FSO Wokha Pelerieno Kehie, sensitized shopkeepers on the importance of FSSAI license, ensuring sale of safe and healthy food in their shops by avoiding stocking of misbranded and  expired products which is punishable under Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and FSS Regulations, 2011 of FSSAI. 

 

Nagaland Food Safety Commission under Health & Family Welfare department observed the ‘World Food Day’ on October 16 at the office premises of the State Public Health Laboratory Kohima.A team comprising of Administration, Police, Aboi Town Students Union and Food Safety Officer inspected food establishments in Aboi Town. The drive was mainly to create awareness, stated a press release issued by Food Safety Cell, Mon. FBOs were highlighted in regard to misbranded food products, highlighting not to sell edible oil in loose form, Myanmar food products.
