FPS dealers urges govt to release pending bill

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 1 (MExN): The All Nagaland Fair Price Shop Association (ANFPSA) has accused the state government of playing delay tactics in releasing the funds meant for transportation and handling charges to Fair Price Shop (FPS) dealers. A press statement issued by the Association’s media cell revealed that ever since the introduction of National Food Security Act and its successive implementation from 2016, the Department of Food & Civil Supplies have released transportation and handling charges for only 8 months to FPS dealers.

And even though the central share of 75% funds has already been sanctioned to the state in November 2018, the FBS dealers were yet to receive their bills and has been kept pending for 30 months (two and half year).  It has therefore urged the state government to release the pending bill at the earliest in order to function smoothly and thereby render better service in distributing essential commodities to the beneficiaries.
