Fuel price hike will deteriorate economy: WDCC

WOKHA, MAY 11 (MExN): The Wokha District Congress Committee (WDCC) has expressed resentment at the hiking of fuel prices, and said that this would deteriorate the economy of the state while affecting the people, mostly farmers.

A press release from the WDCC President, Rabomo Ngullie and General Secretary, Yanchumrhumo W Jami said that in addition to central assistance to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, local NGO's, Churches and individuals have equally shown their concerns and responsibilities in fighting against the pandemic.

“However it is unwise on the part of the Government of Nagaland to tax the people and volunteers who are rendering their selfless yeoman services and sacrifices,” it stated. The WDCC said that the Nagaland Government has put more burdens on the common people by raising fuel prices.

It therefore demanded that the government immediately roll back the COVID-19 cess on fuel.
