Give peace a chance: GPRN/NSCN

DIMAPUR, JULY 4 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN has said that there “may subsist an aura of confusion in the minds and hearts of the people, with events of undesired state of affairs unfolding while in the midst of positive anticipation of peace and reconciliation initiated by the FNR to prevail”. A press note issued by the MIP stated that “the Naga people can no longer be held to ransom by a few pseudo-nationalist with their selfish campaigns for individualistic ends” and also that the “Naga people can no longer be taken for a ride but the truth and only the truth shall reign over all illusive machinations”.
Stating that the “current constitutional crisis within the GPRN culminated following the collective unanimous decision of the National workers, comprising the representation of all Regional as well as the Central authorities, that led to the impeachment of the former Chairman, Mr. S.S. Khaplang”, it stated that the “reason that led to his impeachment was not but for his dictatorial insinuations and tendencies to continue our national struggle through violence, as against the general Naga public’s desire for reconciliation, unity and peaceful diplomatic resolution”.
“The Naga people have prospered since time immemorial under the ambit of democratic principles in respect to all decisions that concerns its peoples”, the MIP note stated while adding that the “Naga people shall not compromise to dictatorial or autocratic principles, which is an alien subject concerning the future of the Naga people”. It stated that “today, our objective is to give reconciliation and peace a chance, and the unification of all the Nagas to expedite a lasting solution our ultimate goal”.
In this regard it stated that “no force on earth can fracture the collective will and aspiration of the people, but to isolate its self and perish against the determination of all”.
Stating that the “former Chairman Mr. S.S. Khaplang, who is now a mere public, does no longer command the leadership of the Naga people”, the statement pointed out that Khaplang “now leads a troupe of ignorant barbarians out to hold the Naga people hostage in their pursuit for violent materialist and lucrative ends”. It advised that “the Naga people should be cautious and aware and not succumb to jingoistic freedom fighters that are out to confuse the general Naga people, and impose their dictates upon the innocent in the name of nationalism”.
“May our good conscience prevail and the negative elements become the source of our strength and commitment to give peace a chance”, it stated while adding that “let not divisive and illusive elements confuse or lead us ashtray, but face our responsibilities to eradicate the anti-social elements”. Stating that we “shall not falter in the face of adverse situations”, it pointed out that rather “the Naga people shall reconcile, unite and pursue a united resolution to the vexed Indo-Naga political imbroglio through respectable diplomatic approach”.
“Nagas shall amalgamate, reconcile and rejuvenate our resolve, so that the endeavour of the Naga people, under the aegis of FNR achieve our ultimate goal for lasting peace to be ushered in our land”, it stated.
