Peren, November 21 (MExN): Observing the Global Iodine Deficiency Disorder Prevention Day starting from October 24 and culminated on November 15 Peren District held awareness campaign in five schools in all the four blocks by the ASHA coordinators and the School Health Program coordinator to create awareness about the importance of Iodine and Iodine Deficiency Disorder.
Five schools were covered - GMS Sector ‘A’ Jalukie Town and GMS Sector ‘B’ Jalukie Town on October 24, GMS Peren town on October 29, GHS Tening Town on October 26 and GHS Athibung on November 15. Creating awareness, painting and essay competition was held in all the schools where prize was distributed for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners. Health talk promoting the importance of Iodine & Iodine Deficiency Disorder was also given.
Altogether, 154 students and 12 teachers attended the awareness programme. Leaflets and pamphlets were also distributed in the Schools. This was stated in a press release issued by Pezanguno Celine Secü, District Media Officer, CMO Office, Peren.
