God reveals Himself during our trials

Selie Visa

If we read the book of Job looking for some explanation of human suffering, we will be sorely disappointed. God never really explained himself. Job never found the reason or the cause behind his suffering. Maybe God knew that Job didn't need an explanation. What kind of explanation would make sense anyway?

God did not give his reasons for allowing Job to suffer. He chose to make himself known, in all his power and majesty, to Job. God didn't reveal his grand design. He revealed himself. He did not explain why things were happening the way they were. He shows His face.
And Job says, “My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.” (Job 42:5)

Things have begun to change since the nineteenth century. The idea of a good and powerful God who could also allow pain and suffering into the world has become harder to accept. Many have denied the very existence of God because they see so much suffering around them. People question God whenever situations go wrong in their lives. God is treated as if he is the accused criminal on trial in a court of law. Have we lost our trust and hope in the Almighty God our maker? Who are we and what authority do we have to make God defend his reasoning to mere humans?

"As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:9).
Have misplaced your priorities? Are you unduly preoccupied with your physical and worldly circumstances? Have forgotten who God is?
