•-No NSF team has undertaken goodwill tour to entire Nagaland and also visited Nagas in Manipur at one go. Congratulating the NSF for such visit, people are hopeful that it will surely bring in unity and help to iron out certain differences and issues in the Naga society. This was a very good step taken by the NSF. Next is the NSF’s striving to root out backdoor appointments in all the government departments and their first target was the power department. Especially the youngsters should give support to the NSF in this if the NSF is not one sided and is not brainwashed by some people with vested interest.
However, the vandalism of the power department office is uncalled for. Such undemocratic protest is not a step which the highly intellectual body should resort to. There are enough democratic ways and means to see that the genuine rights of the people are addressed. The NSF is only destroying government property. This is a very bad start of taking up issue by the NSF. The NSF has also given 60 days ultimatum to all government departments to cancel ‘unlawful appointments’ while the power department was given only 30 days. NSF should apply the same yardstick to all the departments lest the people misunderstood as biased. It is understood that there are hundreds of illegal appointments in other departments more than power department has. The NSF should also immediately crack down on those departments and let the public know that the NSF is not biased or targeting only one department. This is my view as a layman.
