Kohima, September 14 (MExN): “Science exhibitions help in bringing out hidden talents of students and with a focus on creating more awareness of science, technology and engineering. The scientific knowledge gained through participating is another outstanding benefit of science exhibitions,” the Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya said while meeting a team of students from Greenwood Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Dimapur.
The Governor donated Rs. 1 lakh to Greenwood Higher Secondary School, Dimapur for institution of awards in the school.
PRO to Governor in a press release stated that the Governor, on September 14 met Jason Whuorie, Kekhriezhazo Rino, Limatemjen N Jamir and Keneikhriezo Sanchu of GHSS, Dimapur who built a genset-powered car for their school science exhibition. The four students led by their Principal, Uttam Basak and the Teacher Guide of the project, Sukumar Pradhan met the Governor at Raj Bhavan Kohima.
The Governor appreciated the inquisitiveness and skill of the students that led the team to develop the indigenous cart automobile and stated that they were now a part of ‘Skill India’, which is a dream of the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. The Governor encouraged the students to continue working hard as they pursue their education and to be ready to use their knowledge for the development of the State in the coming days. He also enlightened the students on the various schemes and programmes of the Government which can be applied for their benefit. Governor Acharya also called on the students to be nodal agents in disseminating information of various schemes and programmes to the targeted beneficiaries as well.
Governor Acharya also valued the encouragement and support given to the students by the Principal and all the teachers of Greenwood Higher Secondary School, Dimapur. He stated that such events should be organised so to develop potential of individuals and communities. He hoped that the School will continue to encourage and support students to come up with innovative and novel ideas to strengthen Nagaland in particular and India in general.
