An appalling revelation emerged on Sunday through a video circulated on social media showing a pair of sub-standard boots issued to Nagaland police personnel attracting the attention of Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister, Y Patton.

Expressing his concern over the matter Patton took to Twitter (X) to urge upon the police department to verify its authenticity and take appropriate measures.

“Concerned by the video circulating that suggests poor quality shoes have been provided to Nagaland Police personnel. Urging @DGP_Nagaland to verify its authenticity and take appropriate measures. Ensuring the welfare and safety of our forces is paramount,” he tweeted.

The video in question, allegedly showed a pair of newly issued ‘hunting boots’ whose were of such poor quality that the individual who shared it could easily tear its outer soles with his hands. “They expect us to perform our duty wearing this,” the person can be heard saying in the video.

Responding to this matter, Nagaland state DGP, Rupin Sharma had replied to Patton’s tweet stating that action has already been initiated.

It was not known whether the video was taken recently or if had been taken by a personnel of the Nagaland police as of the time of filing this report. The DGP could also not be reached for further queries as well.
