Govt not taking action over Hajadisa village attack: KTC

Dimapur, June 26 (MExN): The president, office bearers and executive members of the Kachari Tribal Council, Nagaland (KTCN) visited Hajadisa village on June 25, 2011 to meet the victims of the recent attack on their houses by miscreants allegedly from neighbouring Khekiho village.
A press note issued by Joseph Mech, secretary, information and publicity, KTCN stated that it has also come to light that the incident was the culmination of series of harassment meted out to the Hajadisa villagers, over the issue of construction of village gate well inside their own village which was allegedly opposed by the GB of Khekiho village.
KTCN also claimed that inspite of reporting the matter time to time to “local authority”, no timely actions were taken and also inspite of the fact that the miscreants have been identified by the villagers to have come from the neighboring village, the police did not even attempt to arrest them.
KTCN urged the district administration to bring the culprits to book and reward exemplary punishment as per the law of the land. It stated that it strongly condemns the inhuman and barbaric acts and further call upon al right thinking individuals and organizations to outrightly condemn it. It further expressed gratitude to the NSCN (IM) Government for having acted on time and apprehending four of the marauders and rewarding them with befitting punishment.
