Govt to implement ENSF demands

Dimapur, February 3 (MExN): The government of Nagaland has assured to address and implement in phases, the demands of the Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) concerning deployment of teachers in the eastern areas of the state. During a meeting held with the ENSF and other organizations today at Niathu Resort in Dimapur, the government said the demands would be addressed. 

In the meeting was Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, legislators from the ruling and opposition house, chief secretary of Nagaland, Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organization and ENSF leaders among others. The Chief Minister heard the issues that was raised by the ENSF and in response he assured to look into the matter and ‘agreed’ to resolve them at the earliest, it was informed. 

Another source informed that the meeting was “cordial” and “successful.” The state government would be implementing in phases the “assurances” given to the ENSF earlier, the source said. Vice president of the ENSF Likhumse Sangtam told this Daily over the phone this evening that the meeting was “successful” but did not divulge further details. The chief secretary did not take calls made to him.

It was also informed that the chief minister responded to the claims of the organizations as published in the Media that he did not turn up for a meeting purportedly scheduled with the ENSF yesterday. The chief minister made clear that he was never committed to attend any meeting, nor had he scheduled one, and further he was not requested or informed of any meeting. In fact, a CMO media official said, the chief minister had returned from Delhi day before yesterday and he was in Dimapur attending to previously scheduled programs.
