Dimapur, January 28 (MExN): The Green Skill Development Programme (GSDP) two-month certificate course on ‘value addition and marketing (plant origin): bamboo crafts’ organized by ENVIS Hub Nagaland with Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB) as the host organisation kick started at NPCB, Conference Hall, Dimapur on January 28.
NPCB Member Secretary and ENVIS Coordinator, ENVIS Hub Nagaland, K Hukato Chishi, IFS was the guest of honour.
In his speech, Chishi shared the importance of self-sustenance and to utilise the course offered by the department. He shared different utilities that can be made of bamboo and encouraged the use of bamboo products to replace the plastic products that we use in our daily lives, as bamboo is one of the fastest growing plant species.
Resource materials like bags, t-shirts, caps, face masks, notepads, hand sanitizer etc were provided and handed over to the trainees by the guest of honour.
The two-month GSDP course on bamboo crafts is for 15 trainees to undergo intensive training on bamboo crafts. The trainees will be given both theory and practical classes and hands-on training on bamboo crafts.
The programme was hosted by Limitsa S Sangtam, Programme Officer, ENVIS Hub Nagaland. Welcome addresswas delivered by Mhasizonuo Angami, Senior Scientific Assistant, NPCB. A power point presentation on ‘Introduction to GSDP’ was presented by Khriehunuo Rutsa, Information Officer, ENVIS Hub Nagaland. During her presentation, various GSDP courses organized by ENVIS Hub Nagaland was also highlighted.
It may be noted that the ENVIS Hub Nagaland had successfully conducted various GSDP certificatecourse on Pollution Monitors (Air & Water), waste management, bamboo crafts, bamboo propagation and management and wild beekeeping & processing.
The programme was attended by all the trainees and officials and staffs of NPCB.
