Editors of ‘Nagas 80 Plus’
Four years have passed since the publication of ‘80 Plus Nagas’, a humble book containing the reflections of 42 Nagas who are all aged above 80 years. It was our privilege to oversee the publication of this book as editors. Some of our friends who contributed in writing did not live to see the published book while some have left this world since the book’s publication. We mourned their passing and their absence is still deeply felt. By the grace of God, many authors of ‘Nagas 80 Plus’ are still alive and well. It is also comforting that many Nagas must have entered the octogenarian group since the book’s publication. Surely, this is a testament of God’s faithfulness.
In the present fast-paced changing world, the demand for the knowledge and wisdom of the old is fast diminishing but old people are the living libraries of history and a nation that forgets history will lose herself. There is no retirement age in service to the nation/society and the older one becomes, the greater the need to speak and write. Growing to be old is not only a privilege to enjoy, it is also a responsibility to bear.
As we step into the New Year 2026, we extend warm greetings and prayers to all the Nagas, and particularly those who are now regarded as ‘old people’. May the Almighty God bless you with good health and long life. If God wills, we look forward to good times of fellowship together and collaborative work in the near future. Kuknalim
