According to the Dynamic Groundwater Resource of India report, published in 2019, by the Central Ground Water Board, in the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Delhi, Goa, Jammu & Kashmir, Kerala, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura and Union Territories of Andaman & Nicobar Island, Chandigarh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, and Lakshadweep, groundwater extraction for domestic and industrial uses is more than 40%.
