•-The attentions of the undersigned have been drawn to the repeated letters in the readers’ column of the local dailies in connection with the seizure of the fake cosmetic items and dragging the name Hazi Park Businessmen Welfare Committee. While appreciating the good work undertaken by the concerned authority, we want to make it amply clear that the closure of shops was not connected with the raid. The protest was against the manhandling of a shopkeeper by a person who has got nothing to do with the entire operation but a personal companion of the DMC Advisor in-charge of Quality Control.
As far as the question of unions and associations giving protection to businessmen dealing with fake goods are concerned, it needs to be clarified that our welfare committee is solely for the welfare of the business community of the area as the name suggests. There is no question of the welfare committee giving patronage and protection to vested interested businessmen dealing clandestinely in fake goods. The raid in Hazi Park is just the tip of the iceberg and more raids should be carried out in the entire town so that these sorts of menaces are uprooted and the general publics are not duped. It would be much better if the origin of the virus is detected instead of apprehending the virus carriers. It is but natural that shopkeepers will keep goods for reaping maximum profit. So it is very important that these fake goods are confiscated from the producers at the source so that the issue does not percolate down to the market place. Dimapur is a place flooded with anything and everything fake not forgetting fake currencies. It is the need of the hour that we look into matters in entirely and fight for the eradication of these social evils.
Finally, the Hazi Park Businessmen Welfare Committee would assure all concerned that we are more than willing to extend all co-operation to the administration for the betterment of our society.
