Heal Manipur: CBCMHK holds day of prayer & fasting

Kohima, July 15 (MExN): The Chakhesang Baptist Church Ministers’ Hill Kohima (CBCMHK) with the theme ‘Heal Manipur’ observed July 15 as a day of prayer and fasting from 7:00 am to 12:00 noon. It was set aside to intercede for the healing, peace and prosperity of Manipur.

“As friendly neighbours, we ask God Almighty to bind the wounds of the hurting and heal those who are broken in spirit, and that peaceful coexistence will prevail in the region. In solidarity, we stand with all our neighbours who are experiencing untold suffering, going through bereavement due to loss of loved ones, and much bitterness due to the series of ongoing conflicts,” CBCMHK stated in a press release.

The church stated that Nagas continue to intercede for the bereaved families, the injured and the downcast. “We remember the faithful members whose churches and sacred places of worship have been destroyed. We remember the women and children who have been deeply traumatized, the young people whose future have been put on hold and the older generation whose legacy have been affected. We remember the farmers, government employees, business community and people across all spectrums, whose properties have been lost and livelihood affected in this most unfortunate milieu,” it stated.

It also stated that violence begets violence and therefore this vicious cycle must come to an end. “We also advocate for restoration of religious freedom in the State. Henceforth, we sincerely appeal to the leadership of Manipur and to all its right thinking citizens, to sit for a meaningful dialogue and pave a new path of understanding for future generations to emulate,” CBCMHK added.
