Dimapur, September 30 (DIPR): Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dimapur, Dr. Sukhato A. Sema said, “Health is the Fundamental Right of every human being” therefore, health services are provided at the door steps of every citizen.
He was addressing at the two-day (26-27 September) Medical camp at Luzheto village organized by Young’s Club Dimapur under the theme “Healthy Living Brings Self Development.” The CMO said that a citizen should report of any health problem at the nearest health care center for investigation and treatment. He maintained that to fulfill the aspiration and dream of the health & family welfare department for free and contributing citizens of the State, the department is organizing various activities in the district such as free and compulsory Immunization programme for Polio and Measles for children, free investigation and treatment for TB & AIDS, Leprosy, malaria, Maternity, corrective measure on Cleft- Lip and Cleft Palate etc. The CMO said that the department is organizing “Elder Citizen Day “for aged citizen who are 62 years of age and above where 50% discount are being provided for medicine and treatment.
District Malaria Officer, Dimapur Dr. Moa while delivering his short speech highlighted how to control and prevent malaria and said that malaria is common in Dimapur and is also one of the most prone districts in the State. He said that malaria is not the only issue face by the district but is also an issue of Dengue and Japanese encephalitis. The mean carrier of these malaria, Dengue and Japanese encephalitis is by mosquitoes and to prevent the spread of such diseases, use mosquito net, D.T. Spray, Malathon Fogging and keep the surrounding clean, he said.
Club President, Jenpu Rongmie presented a brief profile on Young’s Club Dimapur and former member of DMC, Pukhavi Yepthomi gave an exhortation. The two-day free medical camp activities included, distribution of free medicine, voluntary blood donation drive, voluntary blood test, distribution of IEC materials, free counseling, poster campaign and immunization.
