Hornbill Bamboo Pavilion- promoting local entrepreneurs

Kisama, December 5 (MExN): The Bamboo Pavilion at Hornbill Festival Kisama, every year provides an opportunity where local entrepreneurs can sell and promote their products. Altogether there are 112 stalls with around 40 entrepreneurs who are setting up their stall this year for the first time. 

 

M/S Latex Goods Manufacturing Unit 
One of the first rubber manufacturing units in the north-east, M/S Latex Goods Manufacturing Unit, proprietor Mhoyamo Jungio (Stall No. 63) said that through the Hornbill Festival he hopes to not just sell but also promote and advertise his goods. He said so far buyers from Assam, Calcutta, and Manipur have shown interests in purchasing from his unit. Mhoyamo also supplies rubber bands to banks in Kohima and Dimapur.

 

Akaa Organic Tea 
Akaa Organic Tea (Stall No. 8) produced from Ajiqami village in Zunheboto is at Hornbill festival for the third time. It is a family run business which was started 25 years back. Ahuka Wokhami is the proprietor of Akaa Organic tea, which has been growing and making tea through sustainable organic farming. Green tea, black tea and flavoured tea (vanilla, spice, fruit, and flower) are available at the stall.

 

Disong Designs 
At stall no-70 is Disong Designs based in Kohima, first time to set up their stall at Hornbill. The proprietor of Disong Designs is Chiset, who started the business last year and at present there are 12 employees working with him. Disong Designs deals in stitching, prints, water bottles, pouches, foldable bags etc.


A DIPR report stated that the Bamboo Pavilion is managed by the Department of Industries & Commerce. The Deputy Director, Bendangmenla informed, the Department of Industries & Commerce, to encourage and promote local enterprises are working together with India Post to help in courier services to other States as well as overseas.
