Hornbill Fest 2011 the best ever till date: Rio

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 8 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Minister has claimed that the Hornbill Festival of 2011 which “concluded in a successful manner” and held under an environment of peace and tranquility was the “best ever till date”. Rio stated this in a press note while also informing that Nagaland hosted a record number of local, domestic and international tourists.

“All the events of the festival were conducted in a much better manner with a more professional approach. The overall success of the festival is mainly due to the positive participation of the people in all aspects which has created a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for all those who visited Nagaland”, Rio stated.

The Chief Minister mentioned that the Department of Tourism, Police, Administration, all other government departments and their respective officials deserve to be congratulated for working tirelessly making the event a grand success. “Congratulations also go out to all the tribal hohos, civil societies, NGOs, Kohima Chamber of Commerce, Cultural Troupes and all other non-government agencies who conducted various events and immensely contributed through their untiring efforts in ensuring success of the Hornbill Festival”, Rio stated.

Rio also extended appreciation and thanks to the tourists and visitors who came from far and near to “add more colour to an event that has truly become a major international event that showcases the rich cultural heritage and traditions of Nagaland while also giving an indication of the potentials and capabilities of our citizens in multiple areas of activities”.

“Most importantly, we extend our thanks and gratitude to the people of the State, who have come forward and participated in the festival in the most encouraging manner with an incredibly positive attitude. It shows that with unity and understanding, we can overcome all challenges and take our State towards a better and more sustainable future”.

The Chief Minister has also wished the citizens of the State a Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2012 while appealing to all sections of the people to maintain peace, brotherhood and oneness during this festival season which commemorates the birth of the Prince of Peace.
