IICC conducts mental health first aid training for ministry leaders

Insight Institute of Christian Counseling concluded its month-long Mental Health First Aid Training for Ministry Leaders at Chümoukedima

CHUMOUKEDIMA, September 30 (MExN): The Insight Institute of Christian Counseling (IICC) concluded its month-long Mental Health First Aid Training for Ministry Leaders on Saturday at Chümoukedima. The training sessions were held every Saturday in September in collaboration with the Ladies Ministry of 7th Milestone Church.

The programme was led by Dr Yehoto Swu Kiho, psychotherapist, certified mental health coach, and founder of IICC. Participants were equipped to recognize early signs of mental health struggles, identify risk factors and warning signs for suicide, understand common disorders such as depression and anxiety, discern between demonic influence and mental illness, and know when and how to refer individuals for professional help.

According to the organisers, what made this training unique was its integration of biblical perspectives with clinical insights, empowering ministry leaders to respond to hurting individuals with both faith and evidence-based care.

The IICC expressed deep gratitude to the Ladies Ministry of 7th Milestone Church for their commitment to equipping themselves. It stated that “their foresight sets a strong example for other ministry leaders, highlighting the importance of preparing for this vital aspect of shepherding.”

It added that “when ministry leaders are equipped to respond with compassion, discernment, and confidence, the church truly becomes a place of refuge and healing.”
