Nagaland Health Dept assures to continue vaccination drive

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 21 (MExN): As India today reached the milestone of 100 Crore COVID-19 vaccination doses administered, the Nagaland Health Department assured that health care workers are working tirelessly to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries get their doses.

“Some of our team members have to walk for hours to reach the session site due to lack of pliable roads but we work to ensure that no one is left behind,” a press release from the Nagaland Directorate of Health and Family Welfare stated. It further thanked all healthcare workers for their hard work and sincerity in the collective reach of 100 Crore vaccine doses landmark.

“The department also appreciates the immense contribution from all the political leaders, CSOs, administration and other stakeholders and request them to continue to support the COVID-19  immunisation programme as it still needs their unflagging support to vaccinate and keep our people safe from hospitalization and death from COVID-19,” it added.

The department maintained that vaccination is the only long term solution and urged all eligible beneficiaries who are yet to take the vaccine to come forward and take it. “To keep our family and community safe, vaccination is the only answer,” it stated.

In India, the COVID-19 vaccine was launched on January 16, 2021. It is the country with the second largest number of vaccine doses administered, surpassing the EU (580,200,917 doses), US (406,570875), Brazil (257,801055) and others. According to the COWIN portal, a total of 11,62,505 vaccine doses have been administered in Nagaland. Of this, 7,03,548 are first doses, while 4,58,957 are second doses.
