People participating in various indigenous and traditional games organised as a part of the Poanglüm hornbill celebration underway at Tuensang town on January 14.
Tuensang, January 15 (MExN): Various indigenous and traditional games were organised as a part of the Poanglüm Hornbill celebration underway at Tuensang town on January 14.
Moba Chang, winner of Poanglüm Mini Hornbill King Chilli Eating Competition 2019 and Hornbill festival, Nagaland King Chilli Eating Competition 2019 was invited as the guest of honour of the event who was escorted from clock tower till the ground by Local Taxi Drivers’ Union, Tuensang Town.
In the opening ceremony, Beshang Chang, winner of Hornbill Festival Traditional Fire Making 2019 lit the games’ torch using the same technique which won him in the hornbill which was handed over to Thungti Moba, a national athlete who ran around the ground before lighting the games’ cauldron in the presence of Kejong, MLA, Toyang Chang MLA and Nungsanglemba, president, CKS.
Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao scheme leaflets were also handed out by the Miss Chang winners at the venue.
Competitions were also held in the category of Chang strongest man, Khüngkhang wansat (Fire making),
Tug of war, Stilt bamboo race, Hapbung race (Naga karting), Greased pole climbing, King chilli eating,
Pork fats eating and Wool winding (women).
Bazaar Area Grocery Shops, Bazaar Shopkeepers’ Union, Textiles and Garments Stores, Horticulture Department, Butchers’ Union, Motor Parts Shops, Mobile and Electronic Shops and Hardware Stores were the sponsors of the prizes.
Later in the evening, a musical nite was organised with well known Chang local bands including Chale Kaonyu, Aoyim Sem, Himjan Shanen and Lole Wet along with various artists.
