Mokokchung, February 14 (MExN): Following a visit to worksites along the NH 61 (starting from 147 km to 156 km) under National Highway, Mokokchung Division which is undergoing repairs, the Ongpangkong Students’ Conference (OKM) has submitted a representation highlighting the inferior quality of works.
The representation, addressed to the Executive Engineer, National Highway, Mokokchung Division, stated that the current ongoing work is of a sub-standard quality and that potholes and cracks are already appearing at some of the sites even before the work is completed.
Condemning the “inferior workmanship,” the OKM demanded that the ongoing repairing works should be completed on time as specified in the DPR (Detailed Project Report) without compromising on workmanship. “No final payment should be made to the contractor unless a joint verification is done and to the satisfaction of all the concerned parties,” it added.
Seeking the intervention of the department, the OKM iterated its right to take its own course of action in the interest of the people and for the proper utilisation of development funds.
Meanwhile, the OKM lauded the All Ward Union of Mokokchung Town (AWUMT) authorities for volunteering to ensure the smooth flow of traffic which, it said, has made the road repairing more efficient.
