Investiture programme for 1st batch of DB Tech

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 14 (MExN): Don Bosco (DB) Tech is a market driven, skill training institute conceptualized by the Don Bosco Group. In India, it consists of a network of over 125 placement oriented vocational training centres spread across the country, which strives towards empowerment and transformation of youth. “Established with a motto ‘learn a trade, earn a living” to mainstream the youth into the formal organized job market through market driven skill development interventions. The course modules are designed carefully with industry inputs to keep in tune with the changing demands of the market.”
One of its centres in Dimapur has also introduced a multi skill development course – ‘Skill Development for Rural BPL Youth in Nagaland’ - at Don Bosco AIDA centre, Riverbelt colony. This project is funded under the Swarnajayanti Gram Swarojgar Yojana or SGSY. The first batch of 57 trainees has already begun training from August. It is a three-month course.
The investiture programme of the trainees was conducted on Wednesday, September 14 which was attended by the Chief Executive Officer of the Dimapur Municipal Council, Imtirenla Jamir as the chief guest. Employment Officer of the district, Yimlikumzuk was the guest of honour.
Jamir, in her address said that this kind of training programme, if pursued seriously, will go a long way in generating self-sustaining employment avenues, particularly for the economically marginalized rural youth. She also urged the trainees to take full advantage of the training and go back wiser while putting to productive use the skills they have learned.  According to DB Tech state coordinator (operations), Andrew it offers over 65 job-oriented courses ranging from driving, metal welding, computer learning and maintenance, beauty care, masonry & plumbing, baking, motor repairs, electronics, tailoring, carpentry, catering and so on. Youth wanting to undergo training under the centre must be from rural BPL families and must be between 18-35 years of age. Training expenses are fully funded under the SGSY.
Employment officer, Yimlikumzuk challenged the trainees to ask themselves first why they undergoing the training, evaluate what they learn and what they expect to learn next; and where they see themselves after the training. “If you’re here just because the training programme is free, then there’s no point… you’ll land nowhere,” he reminded. He further urged them to always keep in mind the six Ps – Proper Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance. According to him, there are 14, 796 unemployed youths registered in the Employment Exchange in Dimapur. It consists of 9270 males and 5526 females.
