IRCS Dimapur gears up to meet COVID-19 challenges

Dimapur, April 10 (MExN): The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Dimapur District Branch changed gears to meet the challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic ‘head-on’ and working hand in hand with Dimapur Administration and other stakeholders, informed a society official.
The branch is working hand in hand with Dimapur Administration by offering 500 volunteers in a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner held on April 9 at his office and under the guidance of the Administration, volunteers are manning Fair Price Shops, ATMs, Grocery Shops, Community Kitchens, Vegetable Markets etc on need basis, the official informed.
One of the main objectives is to maintain Social Distancing in the crowded areas all around Dimapur District, informed Ajay Sethi, Vice-Chairman of IRCS Dimapur in a press release.
The IRCS Dimapur also distributed Red Cross jerseys, sanitizers, hand gloves, masks to most of its volunteers to contribute selfless service wherever possible.
Such social activities and other initiatives such as Medical Camps, Blood Donation, Relief for the victims of natural calamities, fire etc are done regularly by the branch through membership fees and charities from philanthropists in and around Dimapur town, Sethi said.
The Society has more than 100 patrons, 1000 Life Members and thousands of Youth Red Cross members in Dimapur.
